Journeys of the Heart Adoption Services is a licensed, non-profit mid-sized agency, with its home office in Hillsboro (close to Portland) with social work services throughout Oregon. The agency, which was licensed in Oregon in 1993, was started by directors Susan Tompkins and David Slansky. Susan is a licensed clinical Social worker, and David is an attorney. They are also parents of three adopted children. Susan and David bring professional and personal experience to this endeavor, as well as a life-long passion for adoption. Journeys' staff works with families throughout the United States to bring children to loving, safe and permanent homes.
Journeys of the Heart places children born in the United States, China, Nepal, India, the Pacific Islands, and Taiwan. The agency also has offices in Shoreline, Washington, and Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and is licensed in both those states. Journeys is accredited as an international adoption agency under the Hague Convention on International Adoption, and accredited by the Council on Accreditation. Journeys has no religious or political affiliation.
