Journeys of the Heart Adoption Services is a licensed, non-profit mid-sized agency located in Hillsboro (close to Portland) with social work services throughout Oregon. The agency, which was licensed in Oregon in 1993, was started by directors, Susan Tompkins and David Slansky. Susan is a licensed clinical Social worker, and David, an attorney. They are also parents of three adopted children. Susan and David bring professional and personal experience to this endeavor, as well as a life-long passion for adoption. Journeys staff works with families throughout the United States to bring children to loving, safe and permanent homes.
Journeys of the Heart places children born in the United States, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Guatemala, the Pacific Islands, Romania, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia. The agency also has offices in Shelton, Washington, and Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and is licenced in both those states. Journeys is currently in the process of becoming accredited as an international adoption agency under the Hague Convention on International Adoption. Journeys has no religious or political affiliation.
