Types of Adoption and Services
Domestic Infant - Agencies who place newborns and infants born in the United States. Agency works with birth parents and adoptive parents to provide counseling, adoption home study and post placement supervision.
SNAC - Agencies who have a contract with the state Department of Human Services to place Oregon's waiting children.
International - Agencies who place children from overseas to US families. Agency does the home study, matching of the child, and post placement services.
Independent/Domestic - Non-DHS, non-agency adoption. Families use attorney to make contact with birth parents. Still need an agency to write the home study and do the court report (post placement).
Independent/International - Family is working with out of state agency or international source or attorney. Family needs to contact Oregon agency for home study and court report.
Birth Parent Counseling - Hourly counseling services for families who are processing a non-agency adoption.
Reunion Counseling - Facilitate contact between birth parents and adoptee and provide counseling.
